Well, Friday night I went round to Mike and Jo’s and spent the evening with them after I made a chocolate slice for the fair on saturday. We had a good time, talked alot, played a game of Casserone (spelling??) and did and reading, also caught up with Uncle Keith and Aunty Pam who dropped in for a while. Its so good spending time with them, gives me a real boost spiritually.
There is a real difference between friendship and fellowship. Friendship is great to have as you tend to have a awesome time but you come away feeling a little bit empty, not that it wasn’t a good time or a waste of time cos it is important. But with Fellowship, you may not have the best time in the world, but you come away feeling uplifted, you feel refreshed and think that you can keep on going in the world and that you have some really good friends that you can rely on and be there for you. The one thing tho, is that fellowship is often not so appealing when presented the option, even though you know that it will be better for you, because at the time friendship is seems like the immediate answer for fulfillment.
To add to the above: people who are trying to follow God and have experienced fellowship at some point, are going to feel the emptiness that results from ‘friendship’ after a while ..the question is, what do they do about it – fill their lives with more entertainment? Think that it’s romance they’re missing and pursue that? put more and more energy into distracting the emptiness? or put God first, spend time with people who are trying to do the same and encourage others to do the same? <end rant>
Anyway… On to Saturday. Autumn Fair in the afternoon, was good to help out on the stall selling gourmet goodies, but was also fun on the game stall, I mainly looked after the hole in one golf stall. It was hilarious to see how determined some people were, in tryin to get the hole in one. One guy spent $8.00 and still didnt get it, all for a prize of a crunchie bar!! hehe!! Jamie also had a go, didnt do very well, but thats understandable seeing that his blind. He did best when his wife was next to the hole and was clicking with her fingers next to it, so he knew where to aim by the sound, incredible stuff.
Cyc on saturday night was alright, was a song and praise night, tho it didnt seem focussed on God like I thought it should have, it was more focussed on what Jesus had done for ME, and whilst thats an amazing thing, all praise has to go to God.
Sunday: SS was good, looked at Ecclesiastes 10 which was good as it was a bit of a refresher for me as I did a bible class on it not long ago. (last year)
Exhort was on the ‘truth’ and what it means to believe and hold the truth. Sunday afternoon I didn’t do alot, bit of trumpet practice and then the evening class on Faith as one part of the fruit of the Spirit.
Monday , again not alot comes to mind as being remarkable. In the evening I went to a basketball game which a few of my friends were playing in, it was a semi-final and they got comprehensibly beaten. It reinforced my view of why I don’t like basketball.Played soccer as well, and we lost 6-4. We played well, I didnt have a great night as goalie, the goals that they kicked were extremely good, but I think I was a bit slow to react for some of them. I had a run up forward for 10 minutes and kicked a goal which was nice.
Uni is going ok… coming down to the last few weeks, so everything is starting to heat up! Was good to arrange some of my groups today, I think people are starting to get their act together which is good.
I think thats all for now… over and out.
