Weekend and so forth.

6 05 2008

Well, Friday night I went round to Mike and Jo’s and spent the evening with them after I made a chocolate slice for the fair on saturday. We had a good time, talked alot, played a game of Casserone (spelling??) and did and reading, also caught up with Uncle Keith and Aunty Pam who dropped in for a while. Its so good spending time with them, gives me a real boost spiritually.

There is a real difference between friendship and fellowship. Friendship is great to have as you tend to have a awesome time but you come away feeling a little bit empty, not that it wasn’t a good time or a waste of time cos it is important. But with Fellowship, you may not have the best time in the world, but you come away feeling uplifted, you feel refreshed and think that you can keep on going in the world and that you have some really good friends that you can rely on and be there for you. The one thing tho, is that fellowship is often not so appealing when presented the option, even though you know that it will be better for you, because at the time friendship is seems like the immediate answer for fulfillment.

To add to the above: people who are trying to follow God and have experienced fellowship at some point, are going to feel the emptiness that results from ‘friendship’ after a while ..the question is, what do they do about it – fill their lives with more entertainment? Think that it’s romance they’re missing and pursue that? put more and more energy into distracting the emptiness? or put God first, spend time with people who are trying to do the same and encourage others to do the same? <end rant>

Anyway… On to Saturday. Autumn Fair in the afternoon, was good to help out on the stall selling gourmet goodies, but was also fun on the game stall, I mainly looked after the hole in one golf stall. It was hilarious to see how determined some people were, in tryin to get the hole in one. One guy spent $8.00 and still didnt get it, all for a prize of a crunchie bar!! hehe!! Jamie also had a go, didnt do very well, but thats understandable seeing that his blind. He did best when his wife was next to the hole and was clicking with her fingers next to it, so he knew where to aim by the sound, incredible stuff.

Cyc on saturday night was alright, was a song and praise night, tho it didnt seem focussed on God like I thought it should have, it was more focussed on what Jesus had done for ME, and whilst thats an amazing thing, all praise has to go to God.

Sunday: SS was good, looked at Ecclesiastes 10 which was good as it was a bit of a refresher for me as I did a bible class on it not long ago. (last year)

Exhort was on the ‘truth’ and what it means to believe and hold the truth. Sunday afternoon I didn’t do alot, bit of trumpet practice and then the evening class on Faith as one part of the fruit of the Spirit.

Monday , again not alot comes to mind as being remarkable. In the evening I went to a basketball game which a few of my friends were playing in, it was a semi-final and they got comprehensibly beaten. It reinforced my view of why I don’t like basketball.Played soccer as well, and we lost 6-4. We played well, I didnt have a great night as goalie, the goals that they kicked were extremely good, but I think I was a bit slow to react for some of them. I had a run up forward for 10 minutes and kicked a goal which was nice.

Uni is going ok… coming down to the last few weeks, so everything is starting to heat up! Was good to arrange some of my groups today, I think people are starting to get their act together which is good.

I think thats all for now… over and out.

Continuing on

2 05 2008

Well, Tuesday afternoon was a bit of a disappointment, I was supposed to catch up with my group for Marketing planning, but little did I know, no class was on, so I emailed them, but as yet still have not been able arrange to meet up… we are running out of time to do the assignment. Tuesday evening, I went to a CYC committee meeting out at Clayton, nothing to exciting..

Wednesday morning, I spent most of the day cleaning my room, and I think it is the cleanest it has been in a long time, the challenge is keeping it clean. I also got my trumpet back from the factory, so I gave that a bit of a toot. Went out to the seminar on Wednesday night, and the topic was on the trinity- went through a really good table, which I will try and post up soon. Was a good night.

Nothing to eventful happened on Thursday, completed the June weekend application form and sent it off to get reviewed. It is now ready for printing! Also met up with the IBL (industry based learning) coordinator and we talked about me doing that for 6 months. I now have to apply for that.

Had tea and Dv and Beks with the whole family which was good… not much else happened.

Friday, I spent at home, did a bit of trumpet practice… its good, havent played for a bit over a year and its all still there, I just need to get back into the habit and build up my lip/mouth muscles.

There was a big storm and it hailed as well for about 5 minutes. There is still hail lying outside about 5 hours later.

Stuff

29 04 2008

I  didnt do alot on Monday during the day, I wrote an email to my Perth friend, not sure where that will lead… did a bit of exploring of Uni options, didnt get very far. Have to talk to the IBL coordinator.

Monday night was soccer and again I played up forward. We played very well, but didnt have all our team, so we went down 5-3. It was a good game. I kicked 3 goals :D that was pretty good. Not sure whether we will be playing in the finals or not.

Today, been to Uni, and we actually got some stuff done on our project or at least I got stuff done, it was good.

Listened to Philippians today, its such a good book. I need to press towards the mark, towards the high calling of Christ.

Weekend

28 04 2008

Well, The bbq was good fun. Went round to Sian’s house and ate and laughed alot. Cliff did the bbq, he is a good cook. Went Bowling in the evening and I did alright, definitely not my best night. scores of 118 and 115, but I had fun. Went out to Macca’s afterwards with everyone and then Back to Cliff’s place and played Halo.

Saturday I went round again to Cliff’s and had another xbox marathon. I’m not very good at it, so I was pretty frustrated at times, but I guess I had fun.

Its so hard to say no to something you want to do, but know you shouldn’t be doing. Its hard to be an example to others and tell them what you think and what they should be doing instead, but when your not a natural leader (or there is a more predominant leader) its hard to speak up and give good sound direction.

Sunday was good, the exhort in the morning was about God’s fairness, but I was fairly tired from the aforementioned marathon, so concentration was difficult. In the afternoon I did a bit of reading, but not much and in the evening was Bible Class on Amos. It was very interesting, we looked at the judgments against the nations and also on Judah and Israel and in particular looked at the characteristics that they had which brought those judgments on them and therefore they are characteristics that we should be avoiding. Things like: greed, pride, and treating others cruelly. Also how we interact with our brothers and sisters in Christ, we need to be caring and loving and not cause to stumble.

After the lecture I went round to Mike and Jo’s and had a good chat about things, about where I am going and also how I can help others and other peoples problems/issues. I have a lot of work to do in helping myself and others, I pray for strength, wisdom and guidance from God to help me.

The week in review

25 04 2008

well, not alot has particularly happened this week, I have been very tired, I had an assignment due on Tuesday for uni and I was up very late completing that the night before, as a result my whole week has been messed up because of the bad sleeping pattern.

Played indoor Soccer on monday night and we drew our match 3 all, we should have won, but didnt. For the first time I wasnt the goal keeper because I hurt my arm, so instead I played as a striker up forward, kicked one goal which was nice. After the game we were offered to play a friendly with another team as their opponents hadnt shown up. We were pretty tired but decided to play anyway. We then proceeded to destroy them and Im not sure what the end score was.. something around 9-3. I had a great game playing up forward and kicked 4 goals… first time in my life when I have kicked more than one goal in my life, so it was pretty special to get a Hat trick.

On Monday, I also got the pleasing news that my friend and his wife had their second child!! Went in a saw the new baby on Wednesday afternoon and he is a real dude!! very cute. I could have held him all day, but only held him for half an hour. Had a good catch up with Donna, she is doing very well.

Jude

The name is Jude.

What else… Seminars on Wednesday night went well, we started looking at Genesis 1 and 2 and got caught up on looking at who and what angels are, we also discussed in brief the trinity and next week, they are planning on spending a night looking at the doctrine of the trinity.

During the week, I have finished reading ‘diary of a voyage to Australia’ by Robert Roberts. This was written in1896 and it is about his voyage to Australia. It was very interesting getting an insight into his mind and also seeing what the world was like back then. I guess it sort of inspired me to start writing this Blog. Robert Roberts was a man who looked forward and practically lived in the Kingdom of God. Almost all his comments about his life is shadowed by his thoughts on the coming day when all the Earth will be filled with righteousness and peace as a result of the leadership of Jesus Christ.

I have now started reading his second diary. I wish I had his focus on life. I need to read my bible more and make it live in my life!

My mum and Dad have gone away for the weekend, they took their caravan and went down to the peninsula and so I have the house to myself… fun times. Am going out to a BBQ this afternoon and meeting up with Cliff and a few others.

Introductory post- story about a rat incident

22 04 2008

Hello to anyone who may stumble across this blog and decide to have a read!

For my first official Blog, I want to tell you about a funny thing that happened the other night. On Friday night, I sat down with my mother and started to watch ‘Ratatouile’ which is all about a Rat. Anyway, ten minutes into the film, My mum screams and points across the living room ‘RAT!!’ and sure enough a rat had crept under the door, sat up and looked around!! How Bizarre! when I got up it ran out of the room. highly amusing and highly coincidental.

Well, it doesnt end there. On Sunday night, the rat decided to pay a visit to my bedroom, while I was sitting at my computer. it ran into my cupboard and discovered that it had no way to go- it was stuck and it didnt want to come back out in the open. I called my father and he came in, and we set about trying to catch the rat. we found in under a bag and so Dad tried catching it but it ran off and hid behind my snowboard which was lying down under my desk up against the skirting board. so we squashed it up against the wall (using my snowboard) :( and then caught it as it was stunned using a towel. It was a big rat! Its tail was about 8 inches long.. So that was our drama for the evening.
